This Month's Highlight Simply Salsa is
Make your own Macha
The story of this traditional Mexican salsa is a good one. The local Indians in the Veracruz area of Mexico mainland would make a condiment for their food by grinding the seeds and nuts that were handy. In the 1500 and 1600's the Spaniards came and introduced them to olive oil. The locals started adding it to their paste and that was the birth of what we know as Macha salsa today. Grandma's Kitchen has taken this basic concept and in some of the flavors of our Macha we have added a few things that just might not have been available in the original version. We have also taken what we offer, one step further and now offer our Macha salsa in a package form. You simply take the packet home and add olive oil or whatever oil you prefer.... and voila you have made your own Macha salsa. Enjoy!!
